Tour Itinerary

Day 1

Kruger National Park

Today, you will be picked up early in the morning for a 5-hour transfer to the town of Malelane where you will be staying for 2 nights. Our accommodation will be outside of the Kruger National Park, just 4km away from the Malelane Gate, which is one of the southern gates of the park. Kruger National Park, the biggest national park in South Africa, is 20,000 sq km and is home to a huge variety of animals including the Big 5. The park lies across the provinces of Mpumalanga and Limpopo in the north of South Africa, just south of Zimbabwe and west of Mozambique. Bounded by the Crocodile River in the south and the Sabie River in the north, the southern region is also host to the jagged ridge of the Lebombo Mountains along the border with Mozambique, and the highest point in the park, Khandzalive, in the southwestern corner of the park. Hoping to find the most amazing and elusive animals of the African bush, we will spend our next 2 days doing game drives on an open 4x4 safari vehicle.

Day 2

Kruger National Park

Today will be dedicated to exploring the Kruger National Park during the day. We will depart in the early hours of the day for our full-day safari in an open 4x4 vehicle. We expect to be back at the lodge in the middle of the afternoon for some free time before dinner. Once back at the lodge, you will have some time off before having dinner.

Days 3 & 4

Balule Game Reserve

Today, you will be heading to a private game reserve which is situated in the vast Balule Nature Reserve, which is part of the Greater Kruger National Park. This is Africa at its very best! A timeless place in the heart of wild Africa where nature rules and we are the fascinated observers. This is a perfect place for seeing the African wildlife and just blending in with the bush. You will be spending 2 nights in this environment where the main goal is to relax and enjoy your wild sightings. Your days will start early in the morning for a safari, followed by some time at leisure before departing on an afternoon safari.

Day 5

Blyde Canyon

Today, you will embark on your last morning game drive before heading toward the Blyde River Canyon Nature Reserve. The canyon is situated in the Mpumalanga Province and forms part of the Greater Drakensberg escarpment and features the scenic Panorama Route. It was here that the ancient supercontinent, Gondwanaland, broke apart and Madagascar and Antarctica tore free from Africa some 200 million years ago. The canyon is considered the third-largest canyon in the world stretching for 26km. We will continue exploring another area of the Blyde Canyon by visiting many viewpoints like the Three Rondavels, the Bourke’s Luck Potholes (popular for their formation and discovery of gold during the gold rush), and ending with the beautiful view at God’s Window. We will then head toward our accommodation in the small town of Graskop.

Day 6

Today, we will head toward the city of Johannesburg. Our first stop along the way will be at the little town of Pilgrim's Rest. You will have free time to discover this town which was born during the gold rush in South Africa. Its original buildings date back to the late 1800s. We will then make our way toward the Highveld where we will stop in the town of Dullstroom, the highest village in South Africa at 2,200m above sea level. Here, you will have the opportunity to walk around and admire some cafes, restaurants and curio shops before having lunch in a local restaurant. We then proceed toward our accommodation where we will be staying for 2 nights. It is in the area of Mellville, a bohemian suburb known for its exciting bars, trendy restaurants and thriving student social scene due to its close proximity to the universities of Johannesburg. We will have dinner in town.

Day 7

Johannesburg & Soweto

Today, you will discover the biggest city in Africa which is also known as "the City of Gold". One of our first stops will be at the vibrant suburb of Maboneng, a Sesotho word meaning “place of light”. This magical urban neighborhood is the center of creative energy with a mix of restaurants, coffee shops, clothing boutiques, art galleries, retail and studio space. We then proceed to discover the old city center on foot. You will see Johannesburg’s oldest buildings and learn their history, followed by some street art sightings that are scattered around the area and also around the city. We continue with the visit to the township of Soweto, a vibrant, contemporary social scene and exciting new lifestyle attractions like the Orlando Towers, the Hector Pieterson Museum and Mandela’s house in the bustling Vilikazi Street. You will arrive at your accommodation at the end of the day and have free time before dinner.

Day 8

Cape Town

Today, we drive to the airport to take our flight of about 2 hours toward the mother city, Cape Town. On our arrival, we will head toward our accommodation where we will check in. You will have some time to refresh before heading for a city center tour. This is followed by the famous Waterfront for a little bit of shopping and dinner in one of its stunning restaurants.

Day 9

Cape Town - Peninsula tour

On this day, we will do the scenic route of the Peninsula tour, known for its breathtaking landscapes. We will stop at a fishermen's town in Hout Bay, drive through Chapman’s Peak, visit the Cape of Good Hope Reserve and its famous Cape Point and Cape of Good Hope, and the penguins of Boulders Beach. After this spectacular day, we will head toward our accommodation for freshening up before we go to a traditional restaurant with local live music for dinner.

Day 10

Cape Town - Table Mountain

Today, you will have the opportunity to climb Table Mountain. We will depart our hike from the Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens. Have some time to visit the botanical garden before heading toward the start of the hike. The steep walk can take up to 6 hours, depending on your physical condition. While climbing, you will enjoy the magnificent view of the city and once you get to the top, you will admire the mountain range plus other views of Cape Town. We will then descend using the famous cable car. Take the rest of the day at leisure.

Day 11

Cape Town - Free day

Have this free day to yourself in one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Your guide will be able to advise which optional activities you can do as there are a great variety of things to do in the city and in its surroundings. The activities include shark cage diving, museums, wine tasting, art galleries and more hikes, shopping, or spending the day at the beach. We meet at the guesthouse in the late afternoon to enjoy our last dinner together.
