Itinerary

Main Street:
We take a moderate walk in Johannesburg inner city to find the most iconic and historical buildings like the Rand Club, City Hall, the old Post office, Supreme Court, old Stock Exchange, and the Magistrate Court. During our walk you can appreciate some local art and some old machinery that was used during the mining times.

Standard Bank Art Gallery and Stope gold mine:
The famous art gallery inside the bank opened in 1990, it has established itself as one of the city’s principal fine art venues.
In the 1980s when Standard Bank was preparing the foundations for its new headquarters in the Johannesburg city centre, builders uncovered the entrance to a long-forgotten mine stope that dates back to the city’s very earliest gold-mining days.

Roof of Africa:
Built in the 1970s, the hulking 223-meter colossus that is the Carlton Centre is still Africa’s tallest skyscraper. With its 360-degree viewing level, is a great place to get perspective on the city’s incredible scale and many neighborhoods.

Newtown district:
We end our walk in front of the Chancellor’s house where Nelson Mandela and Walter Sisulu opened a thriving legal practice that fought apartheid’s restrictions on black life and defended black clients who had been accused of breaking apartheid’s cruel and petty laws.
We then head to a local restaurant for our lunch that will be at your own expense, continuing to see Mandela’s bridge followed by some local street art that are found in this district.

Maboneng district:
We continue to the famous district of Maboneng, meaning the place of light. Home to many local coffee shops, restaurants, clothing boutiques, art galleries, and retail and studio space.
We go street art hunting to find the most spectacular graffiti found in the city.

Northern suburbs:
We continue towards the North of the city to find the most expensive suburbs of South Africa. We start with Houghton where Nelson Mandela used to live after he was released from prison in 1990. We then continue towards Rosebank and Sandton, the modern first world central business and shopping district of Johannesburg and richest square mile in Africa. We end our tour in a local bar before dropping you at your hotel.
